CREW INFORMATION
Q: What does Eagle Eye Timing actually do?
A: Eagle Eye Timing offers a variety of meet management services relating to meet timing and information management for both track & field and cross country events. The featured capability behind the timing crew is the ability for fully automatic timing, or commonly FAT, which is the hallmark of the Finish Lynx timing system. Fully automatic timing is the contrary to hand timing races (eg., with a button timer or an ordinary stop-watch). The Finish Lynx system is a fully computerized digital photo finish timing system that has the ability to single-handedly time and photograph every competitor during any race. Thus, reliability on hand-timers is eliminated and their man power can be used elsewhere in contribution to the meet. Due to its digital photography of finish line motion, all doubts, uncertainties, and disputes of finishing places are instantly resolved. Since the Finish Lynx timing system is completely computerized and digital, it serves as the most accurate and effective method of timing and determining the outcome of races today.
Finish Lynx also works in collaboration with Hy-Tek Meet Manager software to deliver results automatically. Due to the brilliance of both Finish Lynx and Hy-Tek, results can be calculated and printed electronically within a minute after the completion of most races. Hy-Tek Meet Manager also computerizes and compiles entry form information into a database to build team rosters. The software program has the capability to automatically compute and organize useful reports such as performance list rankings, team rosters, heats sheets (ie., along with their corresponding lane assignments), field event flight (check-in) sheets, field event score sheets, track and field event results, meet records, meet scores/point totals, and several other useful reports. Through the use of Finish Lynx and Hy-Tek Meet Manager, Eagle Eye Timing can fully manage the information and computing related side of your athletic event.
Q: Why was the timing group named Eagle Eye Timing?
A: We felt that the term "Eagle Eye" symbolizes the standard that we aim for while doing our duty. It is well known that the eagle's eye sight is very precise and proficient, and that is a standard that we have chosen to align with. It is also a reminder of how unique the equipment, we use, actually is. The current technology that is available for managing meets is much more sophisticated and precise than ever before, plus, new technology comes out every year. When Cody Branch first coined the term "Eagle Eye", we all knew that it was ingenious to name the crew based on a characteristic as such.
Q: Which type of meets do you work?
A: We offer services for a variety of competition levels in track & field and cross country. Are services are made available for but are not limited to the youth level, the junior high/middle school level, the high school level, the colligate level, the elite level, masters competitions, exhibitions, and multi-event competitions.
Q: Where is your group based?
A: We are based in the Greater Kansas City Area. Even though our services are not limited to availability in only Kansas and Missouri, the great majority of the meets we time take place in within the two states. We have actually traveled as far as Fayetteville, Arkansas, so traveling outside of our normal domain is welcomed.
Q: Do you have a business card?
A: Yes. You may actually request a business card through the contact page of our web site. If you are interested in receiving business cards please let us know and we will mail them to you free of postage. If you wish to pass them on to others who may be interested in benefiting from the services we offer, we are grateful for your help!
Q: Do you have to go to school, or college, to learn how to use this technology?
A: No. Although many subjects that are used within this timing crew can be learned at the colligate level, college is not a prerequisite for utilizing this type of technology. However, several of the developers of the technology studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or M.I.T.
It does help tremendously to have a background in computers skills such as keyboarding, computer software, computer hardware, and etc. It also helps to have a background in many athletic areas. Particularly, the members of this crew would call themselves sports-enthusiasts, as each of us has worked as statisticians and journalists for other types of athletics in addition to track & field and cross country. More advanced skills include network management, web site management, business management, software engineering, and customer service. Perhaps a broad background in many fields such as those listed in this answer is highly useful.
Q: I know someone who is interested in this type of technology. Do you offer training services?
A: Yes. All training is approved by and directed under the discretion of Eagle Eye Timing, so training during meets may only take place under feasible conditions. We are more than willing to help but please keep in mind that this will be accounted for as an additional service at a negotiable fee.
